215: Why Future-Tripping is Depressing and Why Transformation Destroys Self-Improvement (feat. Paul Young, author of “The Shack”)

Podcast · October 28, 2020

In the words of today’s guest, “Life is about being fully present and alive in the embrace of relentless affection, dealing with the world as it really is, not in a non-existent future trip.” Wholeness is when the way of our person matches the truth of our being. It’s exactly why future-tripping is so futile. Today, my dear friend, Paul Young joins us. Paul is the author of the iconic book, “The Shack,” and his life has inspired me more times than I can count. So today, we’re diving deeply into the transformation from the inside out and why our beloved self-improvement tactics keep us from seeing the truth of who we are and from receiving love that compels us out of the self-inflicted prison of the soul we call “home.”

What Listeners Are Saying…

“So great to find a podcast that is both encouraging and challenging! It is professionally produced, yet still has an informal feel like I’m hanging out with Chris… And frankly, I’d love to hang out with him! I really appreciate his heart and have been able to apply many of his topics in my life to help me grow professionally, physically, and relationally. A+!”
