236: Finding Truth in the Chaos of a Relativistic Culture (feat. Skillet’s John Cooper)

Podcast · March 31, 2021

Surveying culture today, it’s pretty obvious that we’re an incredibly divided, isolated society. And one of the resounding themes in this postmodern era has been around the search for truth. Why does this matter? What’s at stake? Freedom, actually. Jesus said, “And you will know the Truth, and the Truth will set you free.” The word “know” is a deep understanding, but really interestingly, it’s actually a Jewish idiom for sexual intercourse between a man and a woman. Knowing truth is that personal, that intimate. Now, what is truth? Objectively, truth is the facts and notions of the Lord, from His Word–absolute and inerrant–and from His ways. Truth, right from this verse, is personal excellence free from pretense, falsehood, and deceit. And the result of having personal intimate experience with truth? Freedom from sin, from fear, from shame and oppression. And freedom to an abundant life of purpose inside your true identity. Joining us today for this pivotal conversation is lead singer and founder of the 12-time platinum-selling band, Skillet, John Cooper. Friends, I approach this conversation with a desire to incite a more focused level of maturity in all of us.
