358: Dr. Anita Phillips on What’s Missing in the Mental Health Conversation, Why Science and Faith Are Not in Conflict, Why We Must Stop Demonizing Emotions, and Healing the Nervous System

Podcast · September 20, 2023

Today, Dr. Anita Phillips, a licensed trauma therapist, is here to talk about what’s missing in the mental health conversation, why science and faith are not in conflict, why we have to stop demonizing emotions, and how to heal the nervous system. What she’s about to lay out will be a repudiation of the self-help, self-healing messaging so prevalent in culture. And do you know something? I’m here for it.

Guest Bio:

Widely recognized as a thought leader at the intersection of mental health, faith, and culture, Dr. Anita Phillips serves as an Associate Professor in Dr. John Townsend’s Institute for Leadership & Counseling at Concordia University. She holds degrees from the University of Maryland and the Regent University School of Psychology & Counseling and completed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health.
