371: [Formed.] Craig Cooney on Embracing the Tension of Transition, Stewarding Our Hearts After Betrayal, and Freedom from the Poison of Unforgiveness

Podcast · January 3, 2024

Happy New Year! [Formed.] is back to start a brand new year here on the podcast. Joining us in the series are Father Ronald Rolheiser, Dr. Craig Keener, Jamie Winship, Havilah Cunnington, Ian Simkins, and this week, Craig Cooney. Today, we’re talking about how to embrace the tension of transition, how to steward our hearts after betrayal, and how to find freedom from the poison of unforgiveness.

Guest Bio:

An ordained minister for 16 years, Craig Cooney has served in church leadership on both sides of the border in Ireland where he has seen hundreds of lives transformed and hearts restored by Jesus and the power of His Gospel. For the last five years, he has been the Senior Leader of a relatively new church called HOPE in Craigavon, just south of Belfast.

There’s no formula. But it’s in transition that you begin to understand how deep your faith in Christ is. Until those transitions happen, your house is never really tested; your foundations are never really tested.

The children of Israel came out of 430 years of slavery in Egypt. They had come out of Egypt, but Egypt had never come out of them. God had to take them through the wilderness to prepare them for what He had prepared for them.

Healing What You Can’t Erase – My NEW BOOK!

I’m thrilled to tell you about my new book, Healing What You Can’t Erase: Transform Your Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual Health from the Inside Out, available everywhere books are sold on March 19, 2024.

In Healing What You Can’t Erase, I leverage my personal story of adversity, loss, and healing to teach you how to forge your roadmap to wholeness from the inside out. This path doesn’t rely on willpower, self-help, or self-healing, but rather the daily transformative power of the Holy Spirit engaged with principles of neuroscience, psychology, and Scripture. While the pain-filled memories from our past can’t be erased, we can experience psychological, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing that lasts.

Pre-orders will begin in January, but my publisher has graciously made a sneak peek of the book available to you immediately. Go to HealingWhatYouCantErase.com right now to sign up and receive a FREE sneak peek of the book before it hits stores in March.
