Healing What You Can’t Erase – My NEW BOOK!

I’m thrilled to tell you about my new book, Healing What You Can’t Erase: Transform Your Mental, Emotional, and Spiritual Health from the Inside Out, available everywhere books are sold on March 19, 2024.

In Healing What You Can’t Erase, I leverage my personal story of adversity, loss, and healing to teach you how to forge your roadmap to wholeness from the inside out. This path doesn’t rely on willpower, self-help, or self-healing, but rather the daily transformative power of the Holy Spirit engaged with principles of neuroscience, psychology, and Scripture. While the pain-filled memories from our past can’t be erased, we can experience psychological, mental, emotional, and spiritual healing that lasts.

Pre-orders will begin in January, but my publisher has graciously made a sneak peek of the book available to you immediately. Go to HealingWhatYouCantErase.com right now to sign up and receive a FREE sneak peek of the book before it hits stores in March.

Key Quotes from the Episode

So many of us get our religious training early and then it stops. And so our professional lives develop. Our psychological lives develop. But our religious lives in terms of formation stays at a certain level.

Jesus didn’t say to become childish. He said to become like childlike. And so in our formation, we must pass through sophistication to a second naïveté which is a simplicity that is no longer simple or naive.

A child has no false sense of self-sufficiency. Too many of us live with the illusion of self-sufficiency. Only God is self-sufficient.

Today’s psychology falls into a cultural ethos that demands sophistication over all. Luther said “Salvation through faith alone.” Our culture says, “Salvation through sophistication alone.”

God is always present. But we are not always present to God.

Pain is God’s microphone to a deaf world. God is speaking all the time. Most of the time, we just aren’t listening. And so where we pick up our awareness of God is in the broken moments of life.

We’re atheistic in our everyday consciousness of God. We crank up God in our churches, but normally, our everyday consciousness is void of Him.

Many people today say, “I’m spiritual but not religious.” But basically what they’re saying is that they want things their way. They want God on their terms. But as disciples, we’re dependent on Him for everything.

We live with a pathological individuality. And so we don’t break independence alone but by deeper entry into community. That involves breaking the ego and giving up self-sufficiency.

When we’re operating off of the pleasure principle, our dominant question is “What do I get out of this?” But when we’re mature, we don’t live for ourselves. “Feel good” eventually dries up.
