420: Rod Dreher on The Religion of Victimhood: How the Therapy Gospel of “Self” Will Ruin Your Life

Podcast · December 18, 2024

This week, we’re exploring the underbelly of the cultural systems that drive the narratives we’re fed. And these systems play into our mental and emotional health, not to mention our spiritual formation. So today, veteran journalist and conservative commentator, Rod Dreher, who’s also the New York Times bestselling author of “Live Not by Lies,” is here to unpack the danger of soft totalitarianism and why it arrives to us in a package of niceness and comfort. We’re also going to explore censorship and the silence of dissent, emotional fragility, the religion of secularism, and why the therapy gospel in the church is ruining our lives. I’ve never had a conversation like this one on the podcast, but it’s intriguing enough for me to take this right down the rabbit hole. I hope that we can begin to unravel the complex forces that are shaping our world and discover how to navigate these turbulent times with wisdom and discernment.
