518: Owning Your Story Won’t Heal It. Stasi Eldredge on Breaking Agreements With Lies, Honoring Your Story, Receiving the Love of Jesus, Healing After Betrayal, and Knowing God Rather Than Knowing About Him

Podcast · November 4, 2026

There is a sentence you have lived by for so long that it no longer sounds like a sentence; it sounds like the truth about you. It may have come in one moment of shame or formed slowly under a parent’s temper or a friend’s betrayal, but somewhere you agreed with it, and every wound since has landed in the same place to prove it right. You can explain the love of the Lord to anyone who asks, yet for you it remains something you understand far better than you have ever received. Stasi Eldredge joins me to confront why so many sincere followers of Jesus know about Him without ever coming to know Him, and why the culture’s call to own your story has become a cloak that binds people to the very wound it promised to explain. We press into the difference between owning your story and honoring it, the practice of breaking agreement with the lies that took root in your pain, and why the same arrows keep finding the same place until you invite Jesus into it.

This conversation will not hand you a better way to manage the ache. It will ask you to look honestly at what happened, to grieve what never should have happened, and to break agreement out loud with the lie while it still feels true. The Lord who asked, “Who told you that you were naked?” (Genesis 3:11, ESV) is asking you the same question now, not to shame you but to heal you, so answer Him honestly.

SafeSleeve designs a phone case that blocks up to 99% of harmful EMF radiation—so I’m not carrying that kind of exposure next to my body all day. It’s sleek, durable, and most importantly, lab-tested by third parties. The results aren’t hidden—they’re published right on their site. And that matters because many so-called EMF blockers on the market either don’t work or can’t prove they do. We protect our hearts and minds—why wouldn’t we protect our bodies too?
